Community Council Elections/Calendar

Once again it is time for parents and students to look forward to the coming school year. West Jordan Elementary needs parents who are willing to volunteer to help with the school community council. The community council works with the principal and faculty to help identify needs in the school and direct where the Land Use Funds are spent, determine safe walking routes to the school, as well as do a fundraiser to help fund some of the school needs. Please look for the election forms when they come home at the beginning of school. Parents are elected for a two year term. The calender for the community council for the coming year is as follows. We need your support.

Volunteer Opportunities

PTA Volunteers-Many Hands make Light Work.  Just 2 Hours!
We’ve started using a program called 2 Hour Power that emphasizes that all help, any help, makes a huge difference for schools.  The research is so clear - kids at schools with a broad base of involved parents perform markedly better on all kinds of key school measures.   Together we can make a huge difference at our school! To learn more about volunteer opportunities at our school please call or text Jenny Omer at 801-633-9377 or Melanie Quinney, 801-916-8901. You can also send an email to

Raising Funds For our School by Shopping

PTA Fundraiser-Help increase fundraising by shopping for everyday items in a new way.  When you buy General Mills or Campbell’s soup just remember to cut the labels and/or box tops off and turn them in. A portion is given back to the school. In 2014 we received $1,500 from Box Tops.   Late in 2014 we introduced AmazonSmile.  When you shop at Amazonsmile, Amazon donates 0.5% of the purchase price to our school. Just click on and support us every time you shop.

The Use of Technology at School

In order to use district supplied technology devices and gain access to the district’s computer network each year, all students and employees of Jordan School District are required to sign an acceptable use agreement. This documents the users understanding of, and willingness to comply with, district policies as outlined therein and is accessed during the online registration process. Access to school and district networks and digital resources is a privilege. Any user who is found to be in violation of district technology guidelines or agreements is subject to the Jordan School District disciplinary policies.

Likewise, student safety while using internet resource is a priority for our school. Students are taught about online safety in the classroom and teachers can receive additional training on request. For more information about these matters you can click on the following link below. This link document also has mutliple links to multiple resources on internet safety for you to use.
