Home-Based Services: Home-based
services are an ideal way to provide you with training
and activities to work with your child in the most natural
environment. If it is determined that your child’s
needs can be met in home-based services, the JCDC will
schedule regular visits with you. The training provided
to your family will be based on your child’s Individual
Family Service Plan (IFSP).
Baby and Me: The
Baby and Me classes are a great start to small group services.
Our
infants and toddlers come one time per week for one hour
with their caregivers. This class gives families an opportunity
to play with their child using a variety of toys and equipment
in support of the child’s progress and with training
from our professional staff. You will also have an opportunity
to meet with other parents.
Toddler Classes: Toddler
classes are held weekly to help stimulate cognitive and
language
development, improve social skills, and enhance learning
and growth in preparation for a setting in the preschool,
community
or child’s home. The structure of this class allows
toddlers the opportunity to begin the separation process
from
parents that will help them make a smooth transition into
community-based programs when the child reaches thirty-six
months of age.
Articulation Class: The
articulation class is held weekly and serves to help toddlers
use vowel and consonant sounds appropriately in words and
sentences. Activities focus onteaching sound awareness,
sound
imitation, association of sounds with objects, and visual
cues for each vowel and consonant sound. The structure
of
the class allows toddlers many opportunities to practice
the use of these sounds in meaningful interactions and
includes
activities to be completed at home with their parents. This
class is an introductory class for children who will most
likely need articulation training when they turn three years
old.
